Tripoli, 25 August:

The Al-Sha’ab suffi shrine, opposite the Radisson Blu Hotel in central Tripoli, is currently being demolished by heavy machinery, under the protection of security forces. It is understood that the shrine was vandalised by Salafist extremists this morning and the demolition is a preventative measure against further attacks.

However, there are growing suspicions that the destruction of the shrine has some form of official approval. According to Reuters Middle East correspondent Hadeel Al-Shalchi on Twitter, the Ministry of the Interior gave consent for the demolition due to “evidence of black magic”, as it is believed that some worshippers prayed at tombs on the site.

Deputy Prime Minister Mustafa Abushagur also took to the social networking site to say “the destruction of shrines and mosques is a crime. those who commit these crimes will be held responsible… I asked the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Defence to intervene yesterday but they did not do their duty to protect these sites.”

Mohammed Magarief, the president of the General National Congress, released a similar statement via Twitter condemning such attacks.

Tempers appear to be on edge at the scene, the Libya Herald witnessed a fight between a bystander and a guard, and those taking photographs were asked to leave.

This is not the first attack on the Masjid. An attempt earlier this year to destroy the shrine resulted in a demonstration outside the hotel and security forces being brought in to protect the tomb.

Salafists have destroyed a number of Sufi shrines in Libya since the revolution. On Thursday night, the shrine of Sidi Abdul-Salam Al-Asmar Al-Fituri in Zliten was also attacked. In March, they tried to destroy one of the most important shrines in the country, that of Sidi Abdul-Salam Al-Asmar Al-Fituri in Zliten and in June the Sahaba Masjid in Derna was destroyed in a bomb attack.

Libya`s heretic occupation regime continues destruction of Sufi Muslim holy sites, given that Muammar Qaddafi is a Sufi, and Sufism is the `Heart of Islam`

The Al-Sha’ab suffi shrine, opposite the Radisson Blu Hotel in central Tripoli, has been demolished by heavy machinery, under the protection of the occupation regime's security forces.

The occupation regime government has pretended that the measure is a "preventive" one to prevent vandalism by "Salafist extremists", but in reality the regime itself is a heretic extremist Al-Qaida regime, which aims to remove all vestiges of non-"Islamist" Islam, i.e. Quranic true Islam.

Even the pro-regime media have voiced their suspicions that the destruction of the shrine has "some sort of official approval", given the obvious case since the security forces of the regime have protected the heavy machinery which was demolishing it.

According to Reuters Middle East correspondent Hadeel Al-Shalchi on Twitter, the Ministry of the Interior gave consent for the demolition due to “evidence of black magic”, as they claim that some worshippers prayed at tombs on the site is "black magic" even though it is common Muslim practice to pray for the dead.

In reality, the ordinary Muslim masses of Libya are in stark opposition to the imposed foreign dictatorship which has forced one million Libyans -- a quarter of the population -- into exile, while over one hundred thousand have been killed, and tens of thousands remain in unofficial "jails" where they are tortured.

The "Deputy Prime Minister" of the occupation regime, Mustafa Abushagur also took to the U.S. social networking spying and data-mining site Twitter to say “the destruction of shrines and mosques is a crime. those who commit these crimes will be held responsible… I asked the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Defence to intervene yesterday but they did not do their duty to protect these sites.”

This highlights the growing chaos in Libya as the regime and its foreign supporters and local traitors are fraught with increasing attacks against them, and seeing Qadhafi and "Greens" behind every stone and tree, and indeed everywhere within militias and government departments, in spite of their attempts to exclude them.

Evil Puppet Magarief

The long-time terrorist Mohammed Magarief, head of the so-called National Salvation Front of Libya who was financed by the CIA for the past 30 years and behind much of the terrorist incidents carried out against Libyans during the past three decades, and who is now the "president" of the so-called "General National Congress", released a similar statement via Twitter condemning such attacks, again showing that the regime is carrying out the attacks while publicly denying its role.

Magarief described the desecration of Sufi shrines in Tripoli and Zliten as “disgraceful acts” and those involved as “criminals” who would be pursued.

Tensions were very high at the scene, with fights between those attempting to prevent the desecration and destruction of yet another sacred location and historic building, and the regime's forces took action against anyone taking photographs, asking them to leave and using force against those who refused to leave the scene.

This is not the first attack on the Masjid. An attempt earlier this year to destroy the shrine resulted in a demonstration outside the hotel and the regime's security forces being brought in to protect the tomb. However, the regime is now short of security forces and is facing a rising rebellion across the country, even though the demographics have changed significantly with the import of foreign mercenaries, and the detention of tens of thousands, and forcing one million into exile.

Islamist heretics have destroyed a number of Sufi shrines in Libya since the so-called "revolution of the rats".

Journalists Arrested

Three journalists from the Al-Assema television station were detained by the occupation "rat" regime's so-called "Supreme Security Committee" (SSC) Saturday afternoon in relation to their coverage of the destruction of the Al-Sha’ab Masjid in Tripoli, which the regime is trying to cover up.

The incident, yet another a clear violation of press freedom in Libya, has been widely condemned even by the "rat revolutionaries" as contrary to the principles of the so-called "17 February rat revolution."

Islamist heretics, which make up a large party of the "rats" vandalised the Masjid early Saturday morning, apparently because of its status as a venerated Sufi shrine. Muammar Qaddafi is a Sufi, as are many Libyans who believe that the Al-Fateh Revolution embodied the values and principles of true Islam.

The shrine was then completely destroyed on the orders of the occupation "rat" regime's so-called "Interior Ministry".

The SSC sought to cordon off the site throughout the demolition and were hostile to any attempts by journalists to cover the situation.

Following their coverage of the event, Al-Assema’s managing director, Nabil Shebani, together with two reporters, were called to the SSC for interrogation.

Shebani was released late this evening, but it is not yet known if the two reporters have also been freed, subjected to torture, or joined the tens of thousands of other citizens being held in illegal detention and torture centers.

Rat Divisions

The rats' "General National Congress" summoned the "Prime Minster", "Defense Minister" and "Interior Minister" for questioning over the shrine desecrations, in mounting evidence of internal turmoil over the anti-Muslim policies of the neo-liberal heretical "islamist" regime which seeks to impose the "New World Order" on Libya as well as the great fears of the return of the Libyan people to power once they succeed to eject foreign invaders and eliminate the Arab traitors.

The three key "ministers" of the occupation regime were to be questioned by its "Congress" this morning, Sunday, over their handling of the recent desecration of shrines by what the regime call "Salafist extremists" but are in reality heretics which make up the forces which the regime relied upon in order to come to power by force of terror and arms. The army "Chief of Staff" and several other rat officials have also been called.

The failure of the "ministries" of Defense and Interior to prevent the destruction of the holy sites has drawn widespread condemnation across Libya.

Mustafa Abushagur

“The destruction of shrines and mosques is a crime. Those who commit these crimes will be held responsible”, echoed "Deputy Prime Minister" Mustafa Abushagur said also on Saturday. “I asked the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Defence to intervene yesterday but they did not do their duty to protect these sites.”

Saturday morning, the Al-Sha’ab Sufi shrine opposite the Radisson Blu hotel in Tripoli was attacked and demolished under the protection of the occupation regime's "security" forces, little more than a day after one of Libya’s most important Sufi shrines, that of the Sidi Abdul-Salam Al-Asmar Al-Fituri in Zliten, was badly damaged following clashes that left at least three people dead, as reported by Mathaba News and other media.

Following the attack on the Tripoli shrine, heavy machinery moved in to complete the demolition, reportedly to excavate the tombs inside and remove the bodies of those who would have resisted all foreign occupation of Libya and islamist heresy, so as to attempt to prevent even the example of past dead heroes.

The rat occupation regime's "Supreme Security Committee" sought to shut off the site throughout the process, and at least three journalists were called in for interrogation by the so-called committee following their coverage of the destruction, which the SSC had sought to prevent.

In his address Saturday evening, arch-terrorist Magarief admitted that there had been official collusion in the attacks, saying that those responsible “are unfortunately aligned with some in the Supreme Security Committee and some ex-revolutionaries”.

Earlier it was suggested that both the Interior Minister and the Minister of Defence had been fired over their handling of the attacks, although their summons before the Congress appears to confirm that this is not the case.

Resistance to Demolition

By Sunday crowds of popular masses had gathered at the site of the shrine to halt further demolition and theft of bodies from the tombs even though most of it had been destroyed. However, it is believed the regime's forces will finish the job as soon as media coverage wanes and demonstrators return home.

Demolition work at the Al-Sha’ab shrine in central Tripoli stopped while a group of protestors occupied the site today Sunday. The group, numbering no more than 30 or so, started their demonstration in fairly low-key fashion at Algeria Square at midday, standing in the middle of the roundabout with placards.

Libyans are fearful to demonstrate since protesters are often shot by the occupation rat regime's "security" forces.

Work restarted at the shrine Sunday morning, but the machinery was sitting at the roadside as the group stood amongst the rubble. The road remains closed for the entire stretch in front of the hotel, but many of the security personnel previously present have left, while those who remain seem uninterested by the protest and are making no attempt to clear the area, given the divisions within the rat regime over the issue.

The atmosphere among the crowd of spectators on the pavement opposite is tense, and it is clear that some of those present are rats in favour of the demolition.

A scuffle later broke out between the protestors and armed rats as they made efforts to restart demolition, shouts of “God is great” (Allahu Akbar) came from the crowd when the digger operator abandoned his attempts to continue his work.

Sufi Leader Muammar Qadhafi

Despite reports of journalists being arrested for attempting to cover the demolition yesterday, an Al-Jazeera camera crew was operating at the site uninhibited this afternoon, because the rat regime owes its existence to the fake and biased reports on the Qatari satellite channel. Qatar is the main Arab regime sponsoring the occupation of Libya, since its illegitimacy was constantly highlighted by Libyan Leader Muammar Qadhafi at Arab summits.

Lies and Excuses

Faced with mounting opposition after its attempts to destroy and desecrate the shrine and graves without any media coverage failed, the "Interior Ministry" of the rat occupation regime in Libya, sought to "explain" its position in "not intervening" to prevent the destruction which took place under the protection of the rat regime's "security" forces.

The "Interior Ministry" under questioning claimed that it "did not want to risk violence by intervening."

The shrine, one of the most important Sufi mosques in Tripoli and resting place of the holy man Sidi Al-Sha’ab, was attacked by islamist heretics under the protection of the rat regime's forces yesterday morning, Saturday.

A digger then moved in to finish the demolition, overseen by personnel from the Interior Ministry’s Supreme Security Committee.

Little more than a day earlier, one of Libya’s most important Sufi shrines, that of the Sidi Abdul-Salam Al-Asmar Al-Fituri in Zliten, was badly damaged following clashes that left at least three people dead.

The Ministry’s Undersecretary, Omar Khadrawi denied that the "Interior Ministry" had authorised the demolition of the shrine in Tripoli, but said its "Supreme Security Comittee" were deployed to "prevent any fighting between those carrying out the demolition and anyone who wanted to stop them”.

Yesterday, Reuters reported that the Interior Ministry had authorised the operation, in a rare piece of factual western media reporting.

The failure of the responsible officials to prevent the destruction and instead to oversee and protect its rat supporters and forces engaged in the destruction has drawn widespread criticism across Libya, with even many younger people expressing their anger.

Yesterday, a senior government minister who asked to remain anonymous told rat media in Libya that there had been calls from inside the rat Congress to sack both the rat Interior Minister and the rat Defence Minister.

“That decision was put on hold because the (rat) government only has at most two more weeks before its term expires” (and is replaced by the rat "congress"), the rat minister said.

Kaffir Rat Mufti Hypocrisy

Hypocrite: "Grand Mufti"

A statement from the so-called Grand Mufti, rat-appointed Sheikh Sadeq al-Ghariani, released by the "Fatwa Office" today Sunday, condemned the desecration of graves and holy sites, which it described as “not religiously permissable” and “a violation of the sanctity of the dead”.

This comes against the backdrop of recent attacks on Sufi shrines, and continued attempts to demolish Tripoli’s Al-Sha’ab shrine, with the backing of the rat Ministry of the Interior.

The statement said that it was forbidden to desecrate graves, whether they belong to Muslims or non-Muslims, and stressed that anyone who does so contravenes the teachings of both the Qu’ran and the Hadith.

This is well-known by any Muslim and does not require a "Grand Mufti" to state the obvious, however, the statement was clearly aimed at rats who have no understanding of even the most basic tenets and precepts of Islam, let alone Sharia.

To attempt to quell the green popular national resistance and give sanctity to the Protector of islamist heretics and terrorist traitors, NATO, the "Grand Mufti" statement also contained a "reminder" that "the use of weapons is forbidden, other than under state (rat regime) authority" and also "urged the (rat) government to do eveything within its power to achieve security and stability (for rats and their foreign masters).

Tripoli, 25 August:

http://www.libyaherald.com/?p=13209

Another Masjid has been vandalised by Salafists. The Sidi Sha’ab Masjid opposite the Mahari Radisson Blu hotel overlooking Tripoli harbour was attacked around dawn this morning, Saturday. It appears that heavy equipment was brought in to smash the shrine of Sidi Sha’ab which is housed in the Masjid, an important Sufi teaching centre.

There are reports also that a Sufi Masjid in Misrata was also attacked this morning.

The scene later this morning at the Sidi Sha’ab Masjid was startling. There were lots of police, SSC and other officials blocking the road in front while a massive digger was smashing the building. Apparently, this was said to be preventive — to stop it from being attacked further.

This is not the first attack on the Masjid. An attempt earlier this year to destroy the shrine resulted in a demonstration outside the Mahari hotel and security forces being brought in to protect the tomb.

On Thursday night, the shrine of Sidi Abdul-Salam Al-Asmar Al-Fituri in Zliten was also destroyed by Salafists.

Umar Khan writes from Zliten

The (Zliten) Masjid has been badly damaged. The dome in the main square was also destroyed.

The conflict between Zlitenis and the Awlad Al-Shaikh tribe, who are said to be descendants of Abdul-Salam Al-Asmar, started at Eid but escalated on Thursday. That is when heavy fighting started. The whole area from the beginning of Zliten (on the Tripoli side) up to the shrine is bullet ridden — 14.5mm and above. There were tank shells in the main square.

There was an attempt to exhume the body but those involved did not found anything till four metres down.

The overnight explosions were so loud that it brought back memories of NATO bombing. Two mortars fell in Wadi Qaam, around 600 meters west of where I was camping. A petrol station was destroyed in the same area.

There were tanks stationed on the checkpoints all the way from Zliten to Tripoli.
