Hst
I'm well aware of the fact that fasting increases a sense of piousness and nearness to Allah. However, I was going through this write-up where they briefly talked about the benefits it gives to our digestive system, my question here is: does fasting really strenthgen our immune system too? Detailed explanation with concrete evidence is appreciated. Link to that article:
Mustafaye
The accumulation of phagocytised staphylococci increases after fasting, as does respiratory burst and killing of bacteria, although these remain within normal range. Therefore, the innate immune response to intracellular pathogens does not decrease, in fact increases after fasting, which may be an important, beneficial effect in Muslims fasting during Ramadan. Mustafaye
Fasting helps boost the immune system by lowering the blood sugar levels, particularly during the first few hours, which increases the ability of white blood cells to destroy harmful microbes.
